Elkin has found herself working on film sets, in theaters, and for humanitarian causes all over the world. She began her career as a professional ballet dancer and musical theatre performer. Favorite credits include: The Phantom of the Opera, (First National Company), Fame: The Musical (West Coast premiere), Gypsy (with Bette Midler), LA Chamber Ballet (soloist), and Tales of Hoffman (LA Opera). She has produced dozens of commercials, charity promos, and short films, but it was her experience developing and co-producing the Academy Award nominated foreign film Most, that inspired the vision to launch the entertainment company, Summerhouse Cinema, which combines a passion for storytelling with a purpose to benefit humanity. For Summerhouse, Elkin completed the documentary film & humanity campaign, Never a Neverland, which premiered at the Justice Film Festival and received the 2013 Best Documentary Award (Humanitarian) from the WIFTS Foundation. She is a writer/producer on the documentary features Mukesh and Breaking Wild, a co-producer on the film Possum Trot, and worked with her husband, Bobby Garabedian, to development the screenplays Breathing Water, Teenage, Requiem, The Magical Ingredients of Becoming a Somebody, and May April June. 

As a creative activist, Elkin has developed and produced events, campaigns, and strategies to support the safety and wellness of those affected by AIDS in Africa, child soldiering, sex trafficking and exploitation, and mental illness. 

Elkin returned to her theatre roots in 2015, as the co-writer/director of Let Me Entertain You Again (54 Below & Abingdon Theatre Company). She wrote, directed and choreographed a play with poetry entitled The Journey, that was developed at the Actors Studio West. Other directing and/or choreography credits include: a musical version of It’s a Wonderful Life, Godspell, Funny Girl, Bird Set Free, and The Glass Menagerie. In 2017 she developed and filmed a dance-driven revival concept for the Sondheim classic, Sweeney Todd. Elkin is an alumna of CTI and Director’s Lab West, a member of the Actors Studio Directors Unit & Play Development Unit, and a self-professed musical theatre addict.
